Creative Sparks:

Katie Chapman

Katie was awarded the Creative Spark award 3 years ago. She is now 22 and has recently graduated in Management from Southampton University. In the recent Ignite! newsletter Katie described a Creative Spark as ‘someone who has the potential to go further and as someone who uses their creative thinking to achieve their full potential’.

Katie was nominated for the award after being recognised as an exceptionally creative young person, which was demonstrated through a sustainable floor lamp that she made. Katie used her award to give her time, space and opportunities to explore the area of sustainability in business. Katie travelled to China to gain some international work experience and she also attended several conferences abroad that helped her to collate information for her dissertation, for which she received First Class honours.

Katie recently stated in the Ignite! newsletter that her award has given her the positive encouragement that she needed and that her award has enabled her to recognise how important her creativity is to who she is. Katie goes on to say ‘I will never underestimate what a privilege it has been to have such support and financial backing’.

Katie is now living in London and is using her Ignite! award and networks to help launch herself into a career in Corporate Responsibility.
