Other Creative Spark Stories

Taran Smith (Taz) is a film maker and digital artist experimenting in a number of different digital media. Based in Bristol, Taz was nominated by the Watershed media centre. His ambition is to make a number of short experimental films that combine animation, digital and 'real' images. His Ignite! Creative Sparks award will encourage Taz to find a distinctive style of direction with the support of an experienced film maker.

Philip Latim is a writer and composer. Working with musician and composer Freddie Kofi, as part of his Ignite! Creative Sparks award Philip produced a distinctive CD of songs about life on the Ferrier Estate in South East London.

Jon Molinari worked with NESTA Fellow and film maker, Ron Peck and Ron's colleagues from Team Studios, to write and direct a 25 minute documentary film, Altered Egos, which explores the motives of graffiti artists.

Laura Cook was nominated by BBC Blast as a young digital artist of great promise. Over two and half years, Laura explored a range of digital media including VJ-ing, and work with Jamaican film maker Richard Ferron, to develop her distinctive personal style of media output.

Martin Rosinski is an outstanding electronics engineer and inventor based in Newcastle. His Creative Sparks award enabled Martin to visit conferences and seminars in the United States to investigate the very latest technology. Martin has subsequently established a business with his father to take his innovative ideas to the stage of commercial development.

Alexander Nicholson was nominated by the National Academy of Gifted and Talented Youth. Now at Warwick University, Alexander worked on his creative writing development over two and half years to great acclaim, notably in the realm of experimental drama and worked with Theatre Writing Partnership on their Momentum Festival, Nottingham 2005.
