Keyworth pupils take on Wallace and Gromit!
Following their winning invention, to save the tadpoles in their school pond, the pupils of Keyworth spent a day in London, visiting the Wallace and Gromit exhibition in the Science Museum, and then stopped off at the Natural History Museum to visit the ancestors of their tadpoles, the Dinosaurs!
And what a fantastic day it was! We began the day in the Science Museum, and headed straight to the Wallace and Gromit 'Cracking Ideas' exhibition. The pupils spent around an hour, exploring the shower karaoke booth, making their own characters out of plasticine, and learning about various inventions that have shaped the world today. We were even able to see some of the sets used in the recent Wallace and Gromit film 'Curse of the Were-Rabbit'! Following the excitement it was time for a spot of lunch, to restore energy for the activities of the afternoon! Launchpad! An 'explainer' met us after lunch, and introduced us all to Launch Pad, and some of the science that was involved in the exhibits. And then we were let loose! Launchpad is a completely interactive space, where everything is available to pull, twist, push and explore. And full of science!
Our final part of the day was spent at the Natural History Museum, an incredible building both outside and in. Following some group photos, our group divided into 5 groups and headed into the museum, all of us stopping to marvel at the incredible dinosaur skeleton that greeted us in the main hall. Then it was off to visit the rest of the dinosaur exhibit, and finally a quick stop off to see the largest mammal in the world, the blue whale!
A very exciting, active and exhausting day! The pupils of Keyworth headed back to Nottingham with some goody bags from the Science Museum, and a new found enthusiasm for Science (we hope!).
