Creative Sparks
When Ignite! started in 2003 we set off with a mission to identify and support exceptionally creative young people.
After three years we could identify what we meant by exceptional creativity and had applied our funding support to some astonishing young people.
By exceptional we meant that the range of their imaginations and the brilliance of their ideas were themselves mindboggling, or the frequency or consistency of their creative thinking appeared to be habitual.
We were able to call for nominations for our Creative Sparks (the older group of young people, 16-21), from different organisations and worked with the nominees to develop a proposal for an individual, tailored creative development project. Funding up to £12,000 was agreed to fulfill their potential including the support of a mentor and project partner.
These young artists, film-makers, engineers, campaigners, inventors, poets, performers, composers and DJs were then able to show what applied imagination could achieve with a little help and encouragement.
Our second wave of Sparks have come from the Ignition* programme and mostly have developed an interest in STEM subjects, and with the same astonishing creativity.
And if you think that they are impressive as individuals, you should see what happens when they get together. What we observe when we bring these intuitive and ingenious young people together for creativity residential weekends is that ‘Sparks will fly’.
From 2011 we are open to offers from sponsors and industry bodies who may be interested in sponsoring their own Creative Spark. We can promise that they will surprise and delight you with their new insights, and their profile as role models within your organization and for other young people will bring you great credit. Interested? Please get in touch.
