Creative Sparks

During my first few years at school, I resented Art, Design and Technology and frankly wasn’t too amazing at them either, it seemed to me that you could either do it, or you couldn’t. Painting pictures of leaves and still life didn’t interest me and neither did the concept of product design. But as I came into the end of year 9, we were given a more graphic art based task, and at the time I had a cheap old version of Photoshop at home, which I had started to experiment with.

I found that rather fun and at the end of the year I went on to choose both Graphic Art and Product Design for my GCSEs. And that’s when it all started. I settled into the course quite naturally and in my first year, my final design for my first project got chosen as the poster for a local Green Shopping initiative.

My next project, on Conflict and Art won me the 2nd prize locally for the “Young Designer” competition and then I went onto the District final. This work was put on display alongside the other winners in the local Museum. I am now looking to combine my interest in graphic design with my enthusiasm for eco innovation and sustainable product design.

Through creative sparks I have been able to get the equipment that I had always dreamed of getting, and start pushing myself to bigger and better things, and meet many different people who have inspired and taught me how I can be the best I can be.
