Ignite

Research:

Creativity and Lifelong Learning

In September 2006, Ignite! was commissioned by the TUC and Union Learn on behalf of the High Roads Equal project to investigate what opportunities there may be for developing creativity as a skill for learning in the workplace and in continuing adult education.

The High Roads Equal programme comprised a partnership between TUC and Union Learn, Campaign for Learning, Scarman Trust, and NIACE and other affiliates established to examine ways of developing new learning opportunities for people in the workforce.

The research report, published in January 2007, concluded that a major opportunity and challenge exists to build understanding in the workplace that creativity and creative thinking should be regarded as basic skills not only for the importance of generating ideas of relevance to the business but also as an essential source of motivation for life skills and personal growth.
