Research:
Open University Research

In 2004, Ignite! invited a team from the Open University to explore questions and issues around the early stage development of the Ignite! Programme.
In particular the Open University research focused on three questions:
1 — How do the experiences offered to each age group of the Ignite! programme facilitate the stimulation of young people’s creativity, particularly in generating original connections between ideas?
2 — What kinds of affordances and constraints on creativity are provided by the context of the collective, collaborative and individual creative experiences facilitated by the Ignite! programme?
3 — What kinds of creative journeys open up for young people involved in Ignite! programme?
The research report was published in 2004 and informed the later development of Ignite! as a programme of support for exceptionally creative young people.
