3-2-1 IGNITION*

Pupils from different schools doing science experiments

3-2-1-Ignition* is a high-street shop where everything is free - curiosity, science, experimentation and imagination

The first 3-2-1-Ignition* shop opened in the Broadmarsh Shopping Centre in Nottingham for four weeks in 2013, coinciding with Nottingham’s 7th Game City Festival and aim to promote Nottingham's status as a 'Science City'. Members of the public and schools were invited to visit and take part in creative activities, workshops and sessions to surprise, excite, wonder and delight.

Following the success of the shop we explored events, conferences and festivals where families learn together. At London's Barbican Centre, we ran experiments, workshops and science busking throughout The Festival of Neuroscience.

HOW IT WORKS

3-2-1-Ignition* utilises unused, empty retail spaces and brings them back to life with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities. This pop-up shop brings science to the high street, to the public and celebrates alternative learning environments.
