Become the first Scientist-in-Residence for Lab_13 Ghana

October 29, 2014

Lightyear and Ignite! are offering a unique opportunity to become the first two Lab_13 Scientists in Residence in Africa - an exciting challenge to be part of the proof of concept of Lab_13 International as a movement for development and change.

Lab_13 Ghana is a partnership project between Lightyear Foundation who run science projects in Africa, and Ignite! the founders of Lab_13 in the UK. Together, we are aiming to set up a trial version of Lab_13 in Ghana to establish a ‘proof of concept’ for a new model of science education in resource-constrained environments. In the long-term, we aspire to use the model and expertise developed through the Lab_13 Ghana pilot as a beacon of what can be achieved in other parts of Ghana, Africa and across the world.

We are seeking two talented professionals to develop, shape and support the long-term impact of this new venture.

You will be based in Bosomtwe education district, Ghana for six months from March to September 2015. You will be a science educator/communicator wishing to take their professional skills and experience to a new context and make a real difference to young people in Ghana. You be open to new cultures, resourceful and inventive, adaptable to changing circumstances and driven by your love of all things science.

This is a voluntary position where costs for flights, accommodation and subsistence will be met. This position will be from March - September 2015. To apply, please email Rick Hall, rick@ignitefutures.org.uk with a CV (no more than 2 pages) and a covering letter setting out what you will bring to the role.

Deadline for applications is: Midnight, Sunday 30 November 2014 First-round interviews by Skype: 2-4 December 2014 Second-round in person: w/c 8 December 2014 on agreement
